Maybe we should step it up a little...

I dont know about you, but I believe that healthcare reform is desperatly needed. All these people who say that this plan wont work ("Doctors wont work hard enough!) Seriously? It works in tons of other countries, why cant it work here? why is it that one of the most rich and powerful countries in the world spends the MOST on healthcare with the WORST results?
I think its time that those people who are FOR healthcare step up- just like we did during the Election- just like we are opposing things like Proposition 8.
"18-29 year olds are the most uninsured people in America". I mean this is basically me and my friends. I can see how this is true. So many of us are insured through our parent's insurance- but only as long as we are full-time students. What happens after that? After graduating from College what are we doing? trying to find jobs and make a place for ourselves in our respective industries. Often companies dont offer health benefits, especially to those who are just starting out in their careers. And then what? We are so focused on trying to make it that health insurance just falls through the cracks. But come flu season if you cant see a doctor things aren't looking too good for you... Say you let it go untreated for so long- other people get sick, your work performance suffers, quality of life goes DOWN... It really never ends. No one should have to get so sick-or even possibly die-because they dont have enough money to see a doctor or check into a clinic.
I am very lucky to have health insurance - but there was a time when I was uninsured and it really worried me... I am still worried about people I know that dont have insurance. it sucks, you guys. Its not good. I really do not understand why people think that the current healthcare system works. Yeah.. it works if you can afford it.
Oh... and those who cant afford it are not just 'bums who need to get jobs'- they are regular people like you and me who happen to have fallen on rough times.

Just had a total meltdown

and cut all my hair off. Was freaking out earlier, but I have officially gone through the entire grieving process:

Denial: "This is just a dream.. this HAS to be a dream... "
Anger: "No, its not a dream. I am such an idiot! WHAT HAVE I DONEEEEE!!???????!!!?"
Barganing: "I can get extensions. I can fly to tampa for a day and mommy will make it all better! I wish I would have just stopped cutting! why didn't I stop!!?!?"
Depression: (incoherent babbling as I bawled on the phone to my mom)
Acceptance: I can go to Sally Beauty Supply and get some new color, then it will be totally rad.

... its not the end of the world after all =)

I have never been more excited about MTV

So tonight is the 2009 VMAs and I am really hoping that I can find somewhere to watch it. Do I give a crap who takes home 'Best New Artist'? No.. I dont. I am just super excited about the trailers they have put out. Here is the big one- a remake of West Side's Story Quartet- my absolute FAVORITE part of WSS- and honestly I think this is very well done (for an MTV thing you know).. Russel Brand is Hilarious, Cobra Starship is great as always, and Taylor swift is AMAZING! At first I really didn't like her, you know? 'oh another pop corn leanne rimes'- but Tswizzle has already proved herself to be more than that. Oh and I actually really like her CD, which is saying a lot because I am pretty adverse to any country that isn't johnny cash.

Friday Night Bible Studies

I am feeling pretty sick tonight so I am staying in and doing nerdy computer stuff.. that is, until I pass out. I finally brought my camera along to Friday night worship this week- I always have a lot of fun going to them and the group always learns new things. I really am thankful for all the families that are a part of the group. It is nice to get away from 'college life' for a night.I did have trouble shooting in such low light but problems like that are only good as long as you can learn from them. click for larger images.
